Voting the Right President

77 DAYS…

1,848 HOURS…

112,880 MINUTES

before November 6, 2012!

The day that will spell the lives of millions of Americans for another 4 years. What a detrimental date for all of us! A day that will not affect our lives but also the lives of our children and their children’s children. The 2012 US presidential election. What we decide on this day will define the next generation’s future.

Thus I pause and ask myself. How can I make my vote count? How can I make sure that I am not just swayed but advertisements and sweet promises but really paved a brighter way for my children? If you share with this sentiment. Allow me to share these tips that might help:

1. Checklist – make a list of what transformation you’d like to see unfold and double check it with the platforms each candidate is offering. What are your beliefs? What do you stand for? Is it a sound doctrine? Does this or that candidate have what your checklist is looking for?

2. Research – Yes, everything in the web might be controlled and scripted to portray good images for a candidate but at least you can have a glimpse of their belief system, up-bringing, attitude in the midst of pressure, decision-making, etc. Listen to the social media buzz, watch the TV debates and interviews, see what the local newspapers are painting – these and more can help you see their qualifications.

3. Voice – Every candidate if a mouthpiece of a certain cause. Know what each one is crying out. Is it something you cry within as well? Is he/she a voice of the change you’re dreaming of? If you’re passionate for education, health and security; does this candidate speak forth the same?

When you have determined in your heart the possible person. The following practical steps might also help on the election day:

1. Stay rested the night before the election.

2. Prepare a list of who you’ll vote for (from top to bottom).

3. Be an early bird.

4. Pray before you vote, listen to your convictions :).

5. Accept whatever the results are.

Lastly, here are the candidates for the 2012 presidential election. Start doing your checklist now! 🙂
