“Work is a blessing. God has so arranged the world that work is necessary, and He gives us hands and strength to do it. The enjoyment of leisure would be nothing if we had only leisure. It is the joy of work well done that enables us to enjoy rest, just as it is the experiences of hunger and thirst that make food and drink such pleasures.” ― Elisabeth Elliot
“For a time I hovered in that peaceful dreamland where nothing at all works properly but everything is okay.”
― William Giraldi
R-E-S-T... What a sweet-smelling word! It defines a lot of meaning to each one of us but it all end up to experience we like. This is the reason why we always look forward to weekends! Because it’s the days of the week for fun, family and relaxation.
However, there are also those of us who want to make our weekends worthwhile. If not, we regret it when Monday comes and the weekend was just spent with unproductive hours. So here’s my piece of encouragement to us all to make our weekend something we enjoy but also feeling that we achieved something.
1. Quality time with family and friends. Laugh (or cry) together over a good descent movie. Go out on a camping trip in a nearby getaway park. Have barbecue at the patio while the kids run around the yard or swim in the pool. Do a daddy-son hunting and mommy-daughter baking time. Grab and chair with your spouse in the den and just make your love afresh. Whatever it might be, make sure it fun but meaningful.
2. Do rewarding projects at home. This is the time to apply the Pinterest activity you’ve been eagerly wanting to do! Paint a bookshelf with a new vibrant color. Love on your flower and plants in the garden. Arrange the pantry with the kids. Give the dog a fresh bath. Do deco-crafts!
3. Connect with love ones. Missed your mom’s phone call last Tuesday because you did not want to be late for work? Have 100 emails to reply to? Your cousin posted an album of their new baby in Facebook? Oh! You’ve got to post some comments right? Weekend if a great day to do this all.
4. Enhance your techie side. Take this time to make a video of your anniversary last month. Make an album of the kids’ trip to the falls. This is the time to edit and upload! You can also download your favorite music from iTunes or the latest eBook on parenting.
Again whatever you do, make it fun yet productive.
Happy weekends!
