Back-to-School Checklist for Parent’s

August 27th, 2o12 – it’s back to school again at Cumberland County Schools! And many of our homes will be in chaos once as the “morning rush” will be back. Take a deep breath this weekend and then brace yourself for the whirlwind of running here and there making sure everything is ok.

Parents … despite of our busy schedules at work and home, we still find time to make sure all are taken cared of when it comes to our kids. They are our treasure and we do everything to make their education a top priority.

It is in this view that I am making this list. This is a back-to-school checklist for all of us as we joggle through storms of to do’s this coming back to school season.

1. Forms – Make sure all the forms are ready. You don’t want your children to be delayed in getting into their classes because the needed forms are nowhere to be found.

2. Clothes – Iron, fold and hang clothes for school the night before. Let the kids choose what they’d to wear in advance and prepare it. Or else it will create some closet clutter the next day and you’ll have some extra “exercising” to do! 🙂

3. Meals – Create a menu in advance for what the breakfast will be, lunch and even dinner. In this case, you can get what you need from the grocery store in advance and have a good rhythm chopping, cooking, mixing…

4. Time – You might need to adjust the sleeping time for the kiddos. This is so they can wake up early and not be late at school. Consider the traffic as well if you’ll be driving downtown to reach the school.

Once the kids are at school, make sure your time is planned. Make a checklist that will help you be reminded of the things at work, gardening, etc.

5. Budget – Always have an extra savings for the kids. Of course they will come back with this need for their project, so on and so forth. Don’t forget to slice some for your “rewards”. You might want to recognize your kids great performance when they get home! Thus it is crucial that we not only dish out savings for tuition but also for the little bitty things that will make their school experience awesome.

Hope this list has been helpful!
